Ile Notre Dame
Located on an island in the St Lawrence River you will discover one of Montreal's most beautiful spots, Parc Jean-Drapeau. The park is one of the best spots for family fun and outdoor activities.

There is a wealth of activities for everyone to enjoy. The beaches provide great spots for sunbathing, swimming and sandcastle building for the kids. There are lifeguards on duty everyday from 10am to 7pm. It is possible to participate in a variety of water sports as well. Equipment rentals are as follows

Pedal Boats 16 to 18 dollars per hour depending of if you rent a 2 or 4 person boat
Kayaks rent for 14 dollars per hour
Sailboats 22 dollars per hour
Windsurfer 14 dollars per hour
Prices are in Canadian dollars.

There are specific rules regarding beach use that are there to protect the environment and safety of all beach users. A detailed list of beach rules can be found on the parks website which is listed below.

The island contains a variety of cycling and inline skating paths. These paths are open from May 1 to November 15 everyday. There are three different paths available to users that cater to all levels. You can download a map of the paths from the park website.

If you want something a little less adventurous you could take a stroll or have a picnic in the lovely well groomed gardens. The gardens are set in a 25 hectare area located in the centre of Ile Notre Dame. There are thousands of plants with a variety of colours and smells that will certainly please your senses.

There is a small choice of places to eat on the island, but note that some are only open during the summer months. It is possible to reach the island by a variety of routes. You can travel by ferry, car, public buses and cycling.

For more information on how to reach the park and activities available have a look at the Parc Jean-Drapeau Montreal website. Here you can find a full listing of activities, access routes and maps and maps of the island itself. You can also phone (514) 872-6120 for general inquiries.
