Mont Royal Park
Mont Royal Park is arguably Montreal's best city park. The park is set upon 101 hectares an includes the highest point in the city. Mont Royal was established as a park in 1876 and was designed by the same man the created the layout for New York's well known Central Park, Frederick Law Olmsted.
For information about the park's rich history pay a visit to Smith House which is host to a year round exhibition that is free for visitors. It is also the place to speak with park experts about the various activities available in the park. Smith House is open every day throughout the year. Monday to Friday hours are 9am to 5pm and on Saturday and Sunday the hours are 10am to 6pm.
Guided tours are given throughout the year and will take you through the history of the park, its most beautiful spots and best look out points. One of the most popular tours is the Torchlight Ascent, which occurs each winter.
Throughout the year you can rent various equipment to further your enjoyment of the park. Possibilities include, inner tubing, pedal boats, bird watching, cross-country skiing, cycling and skating.
