The Montreal Botanical Gardens originated in 1931 and are said to be one of the best botanical gardens in the world. There are over 40 different garden and greenhouse displays featuring over 20,000 plant varieties. You can spend hours wandering through the various gardens relaxing in the tranquil atmosphere and taking in the wonderful smells. Some of the most popular gardens at the centre are the Chinese and Japanese Gardens.

The gardens are open year round.

November 1 to May 14 they are open Tuesday to Sunday 9 to 5 with
the exception of the Christmas holidays when they are closed.

Each day there are free guided tours that run at 10am and 1:30pm with some exceptions during the month of October when they may not run every day.

If you don't want to make your own way to the gardens you can take advantage of the free shuttle service that is available during the summer. The free shuttle is run between the Botanical Gardens, the Olympic Park, the Biodome and Viau Metro. Also during the summer you can travel through the garden on board a their very own train.
